EF vs EF-S lenses

EF lenses are designed for Canon full-frame DSLR cameras, but they also work on APS-C Canon DSLRs. EF-S lenses are designed specifically for APS-C Canon DSLR cameras and do not fit Canon full-frame DSLRs. Many EF and EF-S lenses can also be adapted to Canon RF mirrorless cameras, though compatibility and crop behavior depend on the setup.
